  • Woldingham School is an independent day and boarding school for girls aged 11 to 18. The school is proud to be a pioneer of women's education and is one of the country's oldest girls' schools.

The school has a clear ethos which underpins all they do: 'to provide an outstanding education that empowers women to change the world.'

Head Dr James Whitehead says: "As one of the UK's leading – and oldest – girls' schools, Woldingham students receive a first-class academic and pastoral education that opens doors to top universities and exciting careers. The girls forge friendships that last a lifetime, while they develop their personal integrity and character, providing moral purpose and direction.

"Whether day student or boarder, aspiring scientist, musician, artist, sportswoman or poet, Woldingham is flexible enough to cater for the needs of each student and her family. I have high aspirations for each and every one of our students. Yes, we work hard but with a sense of adventure, real spirit and sheer fun.

"Woldingham is a truly happy place, a place to grow and flourish."

    What makes Woldingham different?

Attain asked the school, what makes Woldingham School different – and why should parents consider it?

Woldingham is a leading day and boarding school for girls aged 11-18 set in 700 acres of the most beautiful Surrey countryside. Woldingham provides an inspiring place for students to become confident, compassionate and courageous young women. Students achieve outstanding GCSE and A Level results to secure places at leading UK and international universities, opening doors to exciting careers. Students learn to 'write your own story' through excellent teaching, boundless opportunities and first-rate pastoral care.

Despite Woldingham's peaceful location the school is remarkably easy to get to. London is just 30 minutes away by train.

Main House, the stunning 19th century mansion at the centre of the school, sits alongside purpose-built science labs, humanities and language hubs, studios for art, drama and music, and a professional-standard 630-seat auditorium.

Woldingham is perfect boarding. Boarders live with their own year group in comfortable, well-equipped boarding houses and there is a great sense of community. Flexiboarding (up to two nights a week) is a great introduction to boarding. Weekly boarding is increasingly popular.

Woldingham, one of the UK's oldest girls' schools, celebrated its 180th anniversary in 2022. It is a Sacred Heart Catholic school, warmly welcoming students of all faiths and none.
