Tom Gregory is the Headmaster of St Andrew's Prep and a former pupil, having attended the school as a child. He says: 'We provide a firm academic grounding across our broad curriculum and ensure that every lesson and learning opportunity stimulates, encourages and engages the children. We believe lessons learned in the classroom are as important as those learned outside – on the sports field, at beach or forest school, on the stage, on school trips, or in the boarding house.'

'Pastoral care, pupil wellbeing and happiness are at the heart of everything we do; and the children are at the centre of all our decision-making because, quite simply, we believe happy, healthy children thrive and achieve.'

Tom Gregory is Headmaster of St Andrew's Prep.

Ethos

The school has three key values – kindness, honesty and excellence. Together these are embedded in all aspects of life at the school.

St Andrew’s Prep is a non-selective co-educational IAPS day and boarding prep, which prides itself on breadth and excellence. Founded in 1877, it is one of the longest established and highly respected prep schools in the area. Located in the coastal town of Eastbourne, East Sussex, with easy access to London, the school is set in twelve acres of landscaped grounds and sports fields. The beach is a five-minute stroll away and a number of classrooms overlook the South Downs National Park.

With nature on its front door, St Andrew’s offers a unique Woodlands Classroom and Beach School which provide opportunities to complement classroom study with outdoor learning. St Andrew’s Prep offers academic excellence within a nurturing environment. The school encourages creativity, teamwork and personal development, providing strong opportunities in sports and the arts, and delivering outstanding pastoral care through a supportive, community-driven setting.

The school’s talented staff are dedicated to preparing their pupils for our fast changing, high-tech world; giving them lifelong-learning and problem-solving skills alongside leadership and teamwork opportunities and, perhaps most important of all, the tools to become good citizens. The boarding house, Colstocks, is in the heart of the school. It is lively and full of fun but also offers boarders a place to relax and enjoy the company of friends from around the world.

In short, St Andrew’s Prep leads the way in offering its pupils an all-round education, inspiring and encouraging them to succeed and enjoy life.
