The Oratory School has announced the opening of their new state-of-the-art Sixth Form Centre, which is scheduled to open next term.
It aims to provide pupils with the space and opportunity to grow their academic and extra-curricular interests.
The space echoes and anticipates the very best higher education institutions, smoothing the transition from school to university.
The new building will provide a communal space where Sixth Form pupils can relax, study areas, offices relating to Sixth Form life and higher education, a wellness room/quiet space and a Sixth Form kitchen.
The guiding design principle has been to create a building which anticipates the feel of a university and it has also incorporated feedback from Oratory pupils.
Dr James Blackwell, Head of Sixth Form at the school said: "The new facility will be a very significant enhancement of the space dedicated to the Sixth Form and will allow us to accommodate pupils much more comfortably and appropriately.
"It will have the benefit of enabling us to develop the work we do with the Sixth Form at the school and it also allows us to really create the idea of our Sixth Form being a bridge between school and university."
He continued: "Final furniture choices have been confirmed with the help of our L6th and 5th Form pupils, and colours for flooring and walls have been selected too.
"This is a very exciting new phase for the school and for the Sixth Form in particular.
"We're sure our pupils will embrace the opportunity this new exciting facility gives them!"
