St Edward’s secures £3m investment as it joins leading UK schools group

St Edward's Cheltenham has announced that the school trust has been acquired by Alpha Schools, a leading UK Independent Schools Group.

As part of the deal, Alpha have pledged to invest £3m in improving the school’s facilities.

Dr Susan Honeywill, Chair of Trustees at St Edward’s said: "Like us, Alpha Schools is committed to providing a happy environment in which pupils can meet and exceed academic expectations, developing their own unique individual gifts and talents.

"The Alpha team has as an impressive track record of helping similar schools to St Edward’s fulfil their potential.

"Of particular interest to our Board were the group’s expertise and success rates in 11+, GCSE and A Level examinations, along with the potential to work with other Alpha schools."

She continued: "I am confident St Edward’s will go from strength to strength under the stewardship of our hugely dedicated staff body, and the Alpha Team."

“In addition to the guaranteed investment in the site, the sale provides the trust with additional funds to support new bursaries and scholarships for families who would not otherwise be able to afford a St Edward’s education."
