Wakefield Girls' High School has been recognised as one of the very best schools in the world with accredited as a High Performance Learning World Class School.

The accreditation award recognises schools at the forefront of educational thinking with exceptional outcomes for students. Under the leadership of Headteacher, Ms Boyes, Wakefield Girls’ High School is part of an elite global community of schools from Dubai to Mexico who routinely share practice and support each other.

While GCSE and A Level results are high at Wakefield Girls’, success is not limited to exam results; it is about achieving academic excellence alongside a holistic education. From confidence, collaboration and risk-taking to perseverance, resilience, agile thinking and concern for society - the school ensures that the girls they teach are prepared for study, work and life.

About the school

We encourage our girls to perform to the best of their abilities. So our school fosters personal qualities, such as resilience, grit and determination, to ensure girls are ready to conquer new challenges in our changing world.

Wakefield Girls' High School has a proud history of educating and empowering girls since 1878. We offer bespoke education for girls aged 4 - 18 years in small classes led by subject specialist teachers. This is supported by exceptional pastoral care and a wealth of opportunities for all girls to pursue and develop passions in an independent, supportive and happy environment.

We believe that happy girls learn best and Wakefield Girls' have a keen sense of belonging, nurtured by strong and supportive friendship groups. Our girls support each other and through our strong female role model program see how women shape the world. Wakefield Girls' believe in their own power.

All of our girls are encouraged to make the most of their school career – to take risks and aim for more than they think they can achieve. The girls of today will be tomorrow’s leaders, which is why we believe that there should be no limitations on their ambitions and enthusiasm for learning, either professionally or personally.

Do contact us to talk with any of our teachers or to visit our school. A warm Wakefield Girls' welcome awaits.
