We understand that all girls arriving at STAHS for entrance testing are likely to be nervous and may be sitting papers at a number of schools. With this in mind we work to make the admissions experience as smooth and straightforward as possible. After sitting the papers, which are designed to be interesting and stimulating, those invited for interview will find themselves engaged in activities that are challenging but fun. In addition to factual knowledge we aim to test problem-solving, mental ability, creativity and skills of communication. For many girls a further exploration of each of these, together with team work and discussion skills, will take place during individual or group interviews. At the interview stage we aim to evaluate the pupils in the round and take into consideration their interests, confidence and potential for full participation.
When selecting girls to join our thriving Sixth Form, we look for independence, intellectual curiosity and creativity. All those coming for interview will find themselves in stimulating intellectual discussion. All staff involved enjoy the opportunity to engage with the refreshing new perspectives that our prospective pupils have.
