  • Alleyn's School is an independent day school for around 1,300 boys and girls aged 4 to 18 in Dulwich, South East London.

Founded 400 years ago by Edward Alleyn through his establishment of the College of God's Gift in 1619, the school was one of the first of its kind to become co-educational back in 1976 and opened a Junior School in 1992.

The school describes itself as a 'progressive, kind and happy learning community with a unique buzz, dedicated to playing a positive role in the world around us and to widening access through our transformational bursary scheme.'

Head Jane Lunnon says: 'When children are happy, of course, they do well. And we are very proud of the truly outstanding exam results which our pupils achieve. But rather like the original Renaissance scholars, we see exam results as a by-product of the education we offer, not the central goal.'

'Instead, we seek to open the hearts and minds of our pupils. We encourage them to approach the acquisition of knowledge as a great adventure; to be generous and reflective in their study and to recognise that learning doesn't stop when you leave the classroom, or even, when you leave the School.'

    Inspection reports

Inspections provide parents with detailed information from which to assess key aspects of a school. Find out more about why inspections matter.

The school was last inspected in November 2021. Read the inspection reports on the school's website.

The school is a registered charity managed by a board of governors. Read more on the Charity Commission website.
