Hereford Cathedral School has announced that Mrs Helen Hoffmann has been appointed as the new Head of the Junior School.

Mrs Hoffmann currently holds the position of Headteacher at Derwent Lodge, Somerhill in Kent, prior to which she worked as Head of Juniors and then Director of Studies at Vinehall School, Robertsbridge.

Mrs Hoffmann graduated with a BA Hons, a PGCE (Distinction) and an MA in Literature and brings with her extensive school leadership experience from a career in both academic and pastoral roles in IAPS and HMC schools.

Mrs Hoffmann will take the helm of the 3-11 co-educational independent school in April 2022, the 124th year of its long history, and is looking forward to leading the school in its next chapter.

Commenting on her new appointment, Mrs Hoffmann said: "I am thrilled to be the next Head of Hereford Cathedral Junior School.

"It is a great privilege to nurture young children, to see them grow and flourish in an outstanding educational setting.

"I am looking forward to building on the school's enviable history in the years ahead."

Headmaster, Dr Gray, said: "I am absolutely delighted that Helen will be the next Head of Hereford Cathedral Junior School and tremendously excited by the prospect of working with her.

"As a panel, we were unanimous in our decision, and both impressed and energised by Helen’s vision for the next chapter of the School.

"We very much look forward to welcoming Helen and her husband Keir to Hereford."

Mrs Hoffmann will be visiting the school throughout the Autumn and Spring terms and is looking forward to getting to know the school community in preparation for the start of her new headship next year.
