Loughborough Schools Foundation is a family of independent day and boarding schools for boys and girls aged 6 weeks to 18. The group includes Loughborough Nursery, Fairfield Prep School, Loughborough Amherst School, Loughborough Grammar School and Loughborough High School.

The foundation can trace its roots back to 1495 with the opening of the Grammar School within Loughborough's Parish Church. 'In the ensuing five hundred plus years we have come a long way, but without ever losing sight of our pedigree, our commitment to serve Loughborough and the wider community, and our steadfast beliefs to balance academic achievement with moral guidance, happiness, opportunity and a kindred spirit within which everyone is known, understood and valued.'
The schools are part of a unique foundation offering the choice of education from six weeks old followed by two co-educational options for the prep years and then either all boys, all girls or continuing co-educational for the senior years.
Loughborough Nursery
Loughborough Nursery is for boys and girls aged 6 weeks to 4 years. The Nursery is open 51 weeks of the year giving children every opportunity to explore, learn, play and discover new things.
Fairfield Prep School
Fairfield Prep is for boys and girls aged 3 to 11 years. The school offers a distinct family ethos and aims to ensure that every child gets the care and attention they need. The school works 'on the philosophy of tiny feet making huge strides, so that when a child leaves Fairfield at the end of Year 6, they do so as happy, confident and fully independent learners.'
Loughborough Amherst School
Loughborough Amherst is for boys and girls aged 4 to 18 years. The school started welcoming boys into the senior school back in 2019, becoming Loughborough's only co-educational independent school offering children a continuous education from 4 through to 18 years. The school aims to encourage and challenge 'every pupil to become the very best version of themselves and aim to help parents in their task of nurturing confident, compassionate and happy young people.'
Loughborough Grammar School
Loughborough Grammar is for boys aged 10 to 18 years. Established in 1495, the school is one of the oldest independent boys schools in the country. The school's teaching 'is focused on experiential learning where boys deepen their knowledge by doing. At the Grammar School however, the division between the academic and the extra-curricular is far from absolute, as there are so many opportunities for learning that occur outside the classroom.'
Loughborough High School
Loughborough High is for girls aged 11 to 18 years. Founded in 1850, the school is one of the oldest grammar schools for girls in the country, with a rich history and some wonderful traditions. The school 'positively fizzes with energy. Our most important role is to ensure your daughter enjoys her time with us, because we believe success is built on personal happiness and a sense of wellbeing in the embrace of a warm and welcoming community.'

What makes the Loughborough Schools Foundation different?
Attain asked the foundation, what makes the Loughborough Schools Foundation different – and why should parents consider it?
We are the Loughborough Schools Foundation.
We are unique, a Foundation comprising a Nursery and four distinct Schools that can meet a family's educational expectations from the age of 6 weeks to 18 years.
We give families a choice of educational journey, with single sex and co-ed schooling. We provide pupils with the education, opportunity, values, good manners and life lessons they need to fulfil their ambitions.
As a family of Schools we combine academic achievement with co-curricular richness. We embrace new ideas but value and preserve traditions, and we believe happiness fuels success and that learning in beautiful surroundings benefits everyone.
