The class enjoyed decorating their vehicles and adding dowelling and wheels to create the final product.
A Team Building day for Year 6 included activities focusing on teamwork, leadership and following.
Children concluded that Communication is Key!
16th June 2021 — Year 6 Team Building Day
As part of a series of special events to mark the end of their time at ICPS, Year 6 took part in a Team Building Day. Activities, run by Be Venturesome, were designed to help the children experience working as part of a team by taking part in fun problem-solving activities, as well as reflecting on the key skills of a good leader and a good follower.
The class completed six challenges, in the glorious June sunshine on the fields at Immanuel. Activities included knot tying with string and sticks; then using these skills to build a safe structure to stand on from rope and logs. Another challenge involved moving the whole team from one side of the field to the other, without touching the ground, only using planks of wood and wooden blocks. The challenge being that there were ten children, only three planks of wood and not all the blocks were the same distance apart!
By far the favourite activity for the class involved rescuing a rubber duck from the bottom of a vertical pipe. The children decided that the solution was to pour water into the pipe, only to discover that holes had been drilled into it. Working as a team, the children tried to plug the holes with their hands and fetch water at the same time, getting very wet in the process!
After some reflection, back in the classroom, the children decided that communication, both talking and listening, was the key to a successful team. The children also learnt that although some challenges seemed impossible at first, with determination and perseverance, success is possible.
