Woodford Green Preparatory School is an independent day school for boys and girls aged 3 to 11. Founded in 1932, the school is known locally as the Red School because of the scarlet uniforms. Woodford Green Prep is a diverse community, inclusive of all faiths and none.

Head Lisa McDonald says: 'As well as having a strong track record of academic excellence, WGPS is a nurturing community that places children's personal development and wellbeing at the heart of everything we do. We understand that high levels of well-being and happiness are a prerequisite for academic success and we strive to ensure every child approaches learning, not only with knowledge, but with confidence, open mindedness, the ability to think deeply and take risks and with an image ability to see perspectives beyond their own.'
'I am unwavering in my belief that it is the calibre of all staff in the school, from teachers to support staff to the admin team, that has the biggest impact on outcomes for our pupils. At WGPS there is a talented and committed staff that have a genuine desire to make every day in school extraordinary for all pupils. All children in our school feel truly known by our staff and it's that unique sense of ambition for every child as an individual that makes WGPS such a special place to work and learn.'
