Talbot Heath School is an independent day and boarding school for girls aged 3 to 18 in Bournemouth, Dorset. The school was founded over 130 years ago to provide a first-class liberal education for girls. Today it 'cherishes its past while looking firmly to the future with an approach to education that is innovative and dynamic.'
Head Angharad Holloway says: 'Our girls are encouraged to think big and have aspirations; we do not limit their thinking according to age or preconceptions of outcomes. We offer a broad range of opportunities to girls to allow them to work with like-minded pupils across the school on projects as diverse as robotics, debating, dragons' den, baking and art installations.'
'Talbot Heath girls are confident but not arrogant, knowledgeable but not complacent, able to express their opinions but willing to listen to those of others, independent yet supportive, strong yet compassionate, principled but fun. They value what they have and they value others. They are keen to play a role in the wider world but have a strong sense of community. They are original but can work as a team.'
'Our pupils love coming here, our staff love working here – we are proud of our school and the education that we offer.'

What makes Talbot Heath different?
Attain asked the school, what makes Talbot Heath different – and why should parents consider it?
We are thrilled and very excited to be using STEAM and design thinking lessons for all our pupils from the age of 3-18. Instead of teaching each subject in isolation, we are delivering a curriculum that encourages and assists pupils to draw on their knowledge from across all disciplines. The focus will be less on a uniform outcome, but to concentrate more on the learning, discovery and skills involved in the process of solving problems or examining outcomes.
Our interdisciplinary lessons are stimulating, engaging and challenging with emphasis not only on content, but also importantly on how the learning is taking place. Pupils are taught the skills and awareness necessary to best facilitate their own learning. They appreciate that creativity, imagination, cooperation and determination are crucial when finding solutions, and that these attributes are what make us different and unique from the capabilities of A.I. and robots.
For each project, expert teaching staff draw out the scientific, technical engineering, mathematical and artistic elements of the task and then evaluate the skills and attributes that are needed to complete the challenge successfully.
This is what makes us different. We THINK BIG.
