Scholarships, Bursaries & Fees
Bolton School is a fee paying school, but financial support may be available through the 'Open Door' Bursary Scheme. The School has worked hard to raise funds for the scheme in order to enable talented youngsters whose parents may find it difficult to pay fees to attend the School; currently more than one in five of the pupils receive some form of fee assistance.
All bursaries are awarded on academic merit. They are means-tested and available to a proportion of the entry at Years 7 and 12; some funding may also be available to applicants to other year groups. Financial support may also be found for current students whose parents suffer subsequent hardship. In addition, the Headmaster's Fund, supported by the Parents' Association, is used for existing pupils to ensure that such children can take part in school visits and extra-curricular activities.
Enquiries about financial support can be addressed at any time to the Bursary Officer, Miss Charlotte Nightingale, firstname.lastname@example.org or to Miss Angelan Fenton (email@example.com), the Admissions Registrar. Both can be contacted via the telephone number 01204 840201.
Since September 2015, a number of Scholarships have been available to pupils entering the Boys’ Division in Year 7. These Scholarships are not means-tested and are awarded to those pupils who, we believe, will make a strong contribution to the academic and wider life of the School. The Scholarships will be offered at the discretion of the Headmaster following the Bolton School Entrance Examination and Interview.
Further information and application forms to sit our Entrance Examination are available from Angela Fenton (firstname.lastname@example.org) on 01204 840201 or by visiting the web page: www.boltonschool.org/entrance-examination.
Please note that lunch fees are included in the prices above.
A term's fees may be paid in a lump sum payment before the first day of term or, subject to a separate contractual agreement for that term, in four monthly instalments. Fees should be paid by direct debit. If you suffer a downturn in your financial circumstances while your child is at school, please contact the Clerk and Treasurer at the earliest opportunity, who will be sympathetic and may be able to help.
Every child stays for lunch, which is compulsory and is included as part of the school fees as outlined above. Meals are prepared on the premises and we provide varied menus to accommodate all tastes and diets. You are welcome to discuss any special dietary requirements with the Director of Catering.
Our admissions process is overseen and managed by the Deputy Head (Admissions & Achievement), Dr Fraser Mullins and the Admissions Registrar, Miss Angela Fenton. They can be contacted at School at any point should you wish to discuss any element of entry to the Boys' Senior School (telephone: 01204 840201).
All applicants to the Boys' Division must complete an application form. The application form is enclosed with the prospectus or it can be ordered by contacting the Admissions Registrar on 01204 840201 (e-mail: email@example.com). The application form will provide us with various pieces of information, including your contact numbers and information about the applicant's current school. For older students, we shall also need to know which subjects he wishes to study.
