About the school
Abingdon Prep is a leading independent day school for boys aged 4 to 13. It stands in 50 acres of beautiful grounds just six miles south of Oxford. The School has been part of Abingdon School since 1998 with the majority of pupils moving on to the senior school in Year 9 (the Third Year).
Abingdon Prep offers a lively, stimulating and friendly environment with high expectations of behaviour and endeavour. The School nurtures self-confidence, independence and respect through a caring and encouraging atmosphere where boys, their families and staff together create a close-knit community.
True to the School's founding values, Abingdon Prep provides a caring community in which boys gain confidence and develop their potential. Our teaching is built upon traditional subject specialist expertise, with small class sizes and we pride ourselves on the care and attention given to each boy.
We foster a culture of exciting opportunity and seek to inspire a life-long love of learning during the crucially formative preparatory school years. Our high academic standards, broad curriculum and extensive ‘Other Half’ (extra-curricular) programme enable the boys to make the most of their time with us.
We firmly believe in the importance of providing an excellent all-round education but equally we aim to instill values such as kindness, consideration and good manners.
As part of the Abingdon School Foundation, we have an extremely close relationship with the Senior School. The transfer procedure between the prep and senior schools cements this and enables our boys to focus on learning for the love of it and not just to pass an exam.
